Pew Pew Ricochet — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 November 2026
Pew Pew Ricochet ("the game") is made by Brandon Lim, an individual developer ("I", "me"). This policy says what the game keeps, what leaves your phone, who receives it, and how to remove it. Questions or requests: pewpewricochet@gmail.com, or Settings → Contact Us in the game.
The short version
- There is no account and no sign-in. Your progress lives on your phone.
- The game has no analytics and no crash reporting of its own.
- If you play Endless, the name you chose and your best run are sent to the game's leaderboard, where other players see them. Settings → Remove me deletes them.
- You can report a name on the leaderboard. The report says which name, and nothing about you.
- Videos are shown only when you tap to watch one, by Google AdMob, which collects data to show and measure ads. Where the law asks, you are asked first, and you can change your answer in Settings → Privacy Choices.
- Purchases go through Apple. I never see your payment details.
What stays on your phone
Your save holds your progress, your coins and items, your settings, the name you chose and your answer to the setup question (Male, Female or Prefer not to say). The answer only decides which starter piece you are given; it never leaves your phone. Deleting the game deletes the save.
The Endless leaderboard
When you finish an Endless run, the game sends the leaderboard service:
- the player name you chose;
- a random player number and a secret token the service issues the first time, so it can tell your runs from anyone else's (they are not tied to your Apple ID, your device or your real name);
- the run: its Chaos Score and length, the Character and Core you played, how many Wardens and enemies you defeated, the perks you took, and the game's version.
Only your best run is kept. Your name and that run are shown publicly on the board. To stop abuse, the service counts requests per network address; it never stores the address itself, only a salted one-way hash of it beside a count, and counts older than a day are cleared as the service runs. The service runs on Cloudflare, which may keep short-lived request logs for operating it.
Reporting a name: a run's details on the board let you report its player's name. The report sends the service that entry's number and nothing about you. So that each place counts once, the service keeps the same kind of salted one-way hash of your network address with the report, never the address, and deletes it after 30 days. The name is hidden for you at once, and for everyone once it has been reported from three places; it shows again when its player picks a new one. Which names you reported is kept in your save on your phone.
Removing it: Settings → Remove me deletes your player, your entry and any reports of your name from the service at once, and the game sends nothing more unless you choose Join again. You can also email me to have an entry removed. I may hide a name or an entry that breaks the name rules or was not played fairly.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game offers an optional video in two places: to revive once in a Campaign world, and to reroll a perk choice once. A video plays only when you tap to watch it. Nothing else in the game shows an ad.
The videos come from Google AdMob. To show and measure them, Google's software collects data such as your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when iOS asks), an approximate location derived from your network address, how you interact with ads, and diagnostic and performance data. Google uses it as described in its own policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Tracking: iOS asks whether the game may track you. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, your advertising identifier is not shared, and ads are less personalised. You can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Consent: where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks before any ad is requested. Settings → Privacy Choices in the game reopens it.
- No ads at all: the Supporter Pass removes the videos; the rewards they stand in front of are then given without one.
- Reporting an ad: if an ad seemed wrong for the game, Settings → Report an Ad says how to tell me. A report is an email you choose to send, and I use it only to find and block that ad.
Purchases
The Supporter Pass is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; the game only asks Apple whether your Apple ID owns the Pass, and remembers the answer on your phone. Apple's privacy policy covers the purchase: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has put their real name on the leaderboard, email me and I will remove it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you. The game holds nothing about you off your phone except a leaderboard entry, which Remove me deletes; for anything else, email me and I will answer within 30 days. For data Google collects for ads, use Privacy Choices, iOS's tracking setting, or Google's own tools.
I make the game in Singapore, so its Personal Data Protection Act 2012 applies to what I keep, and I am the game's data protection officer: pewpewricochet@gmail.com.
This website
This website has no analytics, no ads and no forms, and keeps nothing about you. It is served by Cloudflare, which may keep short-lived request logs for operating it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted at this address with a new effective date. A change to what the game sends will come with an update to the game.
